When the Stars Disappear | Psalm 42

Jun 28, 2026    Pastor Hayden

When life feels overwhelming and God seems distant, where do you turn? This week we explored Psalm 42—a raw, honest prayer from someone who felt spiritually dry and surrounded by doubt.

The psalmist teaches us something powerful: it's okay to bring our complaints, our tears, and our confusion directly to God. We don't need to clean ourselves up first. Come thirsty. Come messy. Come exactly as you are. The key isn't pretending everything's fine... it's learning to talk to yourself with truth instead of just listening to your fears and doubts.

Even when circumstances don't change, we can remind ourselves: "Hope in God, for I shall again praise Him." Our Savior knows what it's like to thirst, to be mocked, and to feel forsaken. He's not absent in your suffering. He's near to the brokenhearted.

What are you telling yourself today? Make sure it's the truth about who God is and how much He loves you.
