Justified By the Gospel | Galatians 2:15-21

Oct 5, 2025    Pastor Hayden Norris

Big Idea: You are saved by grace alone through faith alone in Christ alone to the glory of God alone.

1. Your righteousness is by faith in Christ alone.

"If they are correct, then Christ did not secure salvation for anyone, but only the possibility or opportunity for salvation for those willing to complete their salvation with their good works. This, however, is the furthest thing from the Gospel." - JV Fesko

2. You can't blame your sin on Christ.

3. I sin when I make salvation about the rules.

"The true way of becoming a Christian is to be justified by faith in Jesus Christ, and not by works of the Law. We know that we must also teach good works, but they must be taught in their proper turn, when the discussion is concerning works and not the article of justification... we do not mean to say that the Law is bad. Only it is not able to justify us. To be at peace with God, we have a need of a far better mediator than Moses or the Law." - Martin Luther

4. I died so that I can live.

Romans 7:4

Galatians 4:4-5

5. I am alive in Christ.

6. I never want to nullify God's grace in my life.

"The heart of Christianity is not a set of doctrines to believe, though sound doctrine is vital. Nor is the heart of Christianity an activity to pursue, even though the Christian faith is necessarily active. Nor is it essentially a set of disciplines, even though without reading the Bible and praying we will not get far in the Christian life. The heart of Christianity is- to use a phrase from John Bunyan, the old Puritan preacher and writer- 'to live upon God.' You were made for God. To know him. Enjoy him. Revere him. Draw strength from him. Trust him. Love him." - Dane Ortlund
