Motivation for Conversations

Fear, pleasure, duty, reward – these are just a few of the motivators of people. What motivates you? The Apostle Paul was motivated to share the gospel because of his fear, his reverential awe of the Lord. The love of Christ also moved Paul to faithfulness in the gospel. In fact, Christ’s love impelled him to preach. Finally, Paul understood the great potential of every person made brand new in Jesus Christ.
Does guilt or a negative sense of duty drive you to present Christ? Then perhaps you, too, should reconsider your motives based on the drivers in Paul’s life. Perhaps your friend would be willing rather to listen to a gospel presentation based upon hope than upon fear. Join us this Sunday (11-19) at Crosspoint for a look at Paul’s motivation from 2 Corinthians 5.
